About the Opportunity: Doherty Staffing Solutions is partnering with a local Detroit Lakes, MN manufacturing company, as they search for an Application Engineer to join the growing team. The Applications Engineer supplies the initial design concept, layout, and quote estimates to our Sales Team to provide the best possible processing, conveying, and packaging equipment solutions for our customers. Working internally with cross functional teams to provide design specifications, project management, and meeting Customer expectations is an integral part of this role.Responsibilities

Work with Executive management, Operations, Project management, Sales, and Controls on client projects, expectations, and deliveries.
Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies to improve Applications design and quoting time
Maintaining quoting schedules to meet delivery deadlines

Follow RFQ processes
Assist in developing RFQ standards and procedures
Provide estimated cost of build for concept layouts
Work directly with Customers and Sales Team to gather project information
Designs initial concept layouts of new equipment and systems using 2D AutoCAD
Review concept layouts and designs with Customer and Sales team
Read through customer specifications to provide Sales with accurate solution and scope on projects
Assist in calculations to determine labor hours, material and outside services necessary to produce customers request for quote.
Create complete project documentation for engineering to include drawings related to layout plans, elevation, data sheets and project specifications
Manages kick-off meetings with Engineering & Controls once a project is approved
Assist Sales on technical sales visits and project reviews
Ability to travel to client sites to evaluate project scopes with or without your team when necessary

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Understanding manufacturing processes and job costing and/or estimating experience a plus. Must have mechanical aptitude and/or technical inclination. Knowledge of CAD required with AutoCAD and MS Excel a plus. Associates or Bachelorâs degrees strongly preferred.

We work one-on-one with great candidates to help connect them with local employment opportunities. We are seeking candidates for Machine Operator roles on the weekend night shift. What youâll do as the Machine Operator:

Ensure a safe work environment for oneself and others
Follow all safety rules and regulations
Set automatic controls, observe gauges, and operate a gas or electric furnace used to harden temper, anneal heat treat metal parts
Load parts into containers in accordance with load diagrams, close the furnace door, and insert parts into the furnace when the specified temperature is reached
Remove parts from the furnace after the specified time, and air dry or cool parts in water, oil, brine, or other baths
Read the production schedule to determine the processing sequence and furnace temperature requirements for objects to be heat-treated
Read the work order to determine processing specifications
Light gas burners and adjust the flow of gas and coolant water
Operate packaging washer equipment where applicable

What you need to be a Machine Operator:

High school diploma or GED
3+ months of heat treat experience preferred, but not required
Ability to follow work instructions
Good attendance
Ability to safely operate a forklift
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations

What youâll do as the Machine Operator:

Ensure a safe work environment for self and others
Follow all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to the safety program
Review and follow work instructions, management system procedures, and standard operating documents
Run CNC and manual machines, and handheld tools
Inspect parts and identify defects and non-conformities
Consistently and accurately complete all related paperwork/documentation
Monitor fluids in the machine and coolant flow in the machine
Utilize the 5-S principles (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain) to maintain an orderly, clean, and safe work area
Produce parts that meet the Companyâs quality standards
Actively participates in CIP events to improve the safety, quality, and efficiencies of our current processes and procedures.
Support and positively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Ensure the work center is prepared for the next operator

What you need to be a Machine Operator:

High school diploma or equivalent
Manufacturing experience desired but not required
Mechanical aptitude
Basic math skills, must have a working knowledge of decimals
Ability to read measuring instruments
Ability to read and follow work instructions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to recognize defects and non-conformities
