Product Engineer (Driveworks)
Job Description
As a Product Engineer - CI Focus, you will:
- Own and optimize the processes and tools related to part/assembly/print creation and engineering change management resulting in 5% productivity gains year over year
- Enable the efficient and repeatable creation of product design documentation for customer and operations consumption
- Create “mistake-proof” enhancements of the print creation processes using knowledge-based engineering concepts
- Consolidate designs to limit variability
- Responsible for day-to-day improvement and optimization of the drafting tools, tool chain, and processes including but not limited to Driveworks, SolidWorks, PDM (vault), Engineering Change Orders and the integration and hand-offs of the tools with other tools
- Management of projects utilizing third party vendors executing tool improvements
- Ensure that projects are on schedule, on scope and on budget
- Creation of process improvement roadmaps, scoping of projects to achieve the desired final state, and prioritization of projects
- Collaborate with manufacturing, methods of manufacturing, sales, and other process customers to ensure tool chain is optimized upstream and downstream.
- Support the communication of design concepts, detailed design, and product release information to manufacturing partners internal and external
- Provide ongoing technical/engineering influence with manufacturing partners internal and external
- Complete design analysis, driving standardization and efficiency into the product development process
- Preferred candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least five (5) years of work experience in design automation or similar
- A demonstrated competence in project management principles and software tools
- Expert skills in CAD standardization and automation tools and methods, especially Driveworks
- Expert skills in CAD, especially SolidWorks
- Subject matter expert in mechanical design
- Knowledge of product design, manufacturing, and assembly techniques
- Strong background in process development
- Background in engineering change processes
- Possess strong research and analysis skills
- Ability and willingness to take a “hands-on” approach to meeting project scope and timing including assisting project team members in completion of deliverables as needed
- Ability to read, interpret and communicate customer specifications and industry standards
- Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions
- Effective and appropriate verbal and written communication skills
- Work with others as part of a high-performance team
- Adaptable to changing work priorities
