Polaris is looking for a Materials Engineer to join our dynamic Materials Engineering and Testing team in Wyoming, MN. In this hands-on role, you’ll support materials testing, validation, and analysis across all Polaris product platforms—from off-road vehicles and snowmobiles to boats, motorcycles, and defense products.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety, hands-on lab work, and solving real-world challenges that drive performance and durability in our products.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and evaluate metallurgical samples
- Conduct failure analysis and fractography to identify root causes
- Perform optical microscopy and digital imaging
- Execute accelerated environmental and coating performance tests
- Analyze results and write clear, data-driven technical reports
- Maintain an organized lab environment and test schedules
- Apply lean practices to improve efficiency and throughput
- Collaborate with engineers and project leads across multiple Polaris teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering required
- Experience in metallurgical sample prep, microscopy, and hardness testing
- Familiarity with failure analysis of metal or plastic materials (a plus!)
- Comfortable handling chemicals and following proper safety procedures
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes like casting, forging, or welding is beneficial
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated, organized, and eager to learn
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
