About the OpportunityDoherty Staffing Solutions is hiring Machinist I workers for a machining company in Montevideo, MN. In this role, you’ll operate and adjust CNC machines to perform standard and routine sequences of operations, deburr parts, and perform quality checks. What You’ll Do as a Machinist I:
  • Operate computer-controlled machines to perform machining functions on various materials
  • Perform job requirements per documented procedures, CNC programs, and inspection instructions
  • Review job router/traveler for pertinent job information
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and cutting tools
  • Transfer programs and offsets to CNC modules
  • Load and unload workpieces manually or with material handling equipment
  • Check accuracy of work against blueprints/specifications using advanced gaging techniques
  • Perform surface finish operations such as sanding and deburring
  • Monitor workpieces and equipment throughout machining process
  • Maintain coolant and hydraulic oil levels
  • Handle inventory material, tooling, and workpieces
  • Recommend process and cost improvements
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe environment following 5S standards
  • Comply with safety rules including PPE and OSHA standards
What You Need to Bring to the Machinist I Role:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years CNC Machine Operator experience or certificate in machining
  • Intermediate math skills (trigonometry, geometry)
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Proficient reading, writing, and oral communication in English
  • Basic blueprint reading and inspection skills
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to run multiple machines and operate CMM
  • Ability to machine tight tolerances
  • Ability to work independently and transition between work cells
  • U.S. person status required (ITAR compliance)
