Combining precision machining with sheet metal fabrication, welding, complex assembly, and other processes allows Chandler to deliver complete assemblies or sub-assemblies to our customers, helping to dramatically simplify their supply chain.
What you will do as a Machinist:
- Operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on various material workpieces
- Perform basic and complex set-ups and make offsets/work coordinates as needed
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and cutting tools using hand tools and tool length offset equipment.
- Transfer programs and offsets from servers or a USB drive to the computer numerical control modules
- Review job router/traveler for pertinent job information such as work center designation, job size, machine rates, SPC requirements, etc.
- Load and unload workpieces manually or with material handling equipment
- Check the accuracy of work against blueprints/specifications using advanced gaging techniques for product conformity
- Perform surface finish operations using sanding and deburring, using finishing materials, hand tools, and power equipment if required
- Monitor workpieces and equipment throughout the machining process to detect issues
- Report quality, process, cycle time, etc., variances to supervisor or lead as soon as they are identified
- Ensure coolant and hydraulic oil levels are maintained and changed as required
- Perform inventory material handling, including retrieving, moving, and storing material, tooling, and workpieces
What you will need to be a Machinist:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of CNC Machinist experience
- Routinely perform set-ups, including complex set-ups, and make offsets/work coordinates as needed
- Intermediate math skills (i.e., trigonometry, geometry, etc.)
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Proficient in reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension in the English language
- Intermediate inspection skills
- Intermediate blueprint reading skills
- Intermediate knowledge of GD&T
