What You'll Do as a Laser Operator:
- Operate laser cutting and punching machines
- Load, edit, and run machine programs
- Load raw materials into sheet bays
- Maintain cut quality while keeping efficient feed rates
- Perform first‑piece and in‑process inspections
- Complete routine laser maintenance, including startup/shutdown, cleaning windows and centering nozzles, emptying dustbins and replacing cutting beds
- Keep the work area clean and organized
- Ensure all products meet quality standards
- Handle steel raw materials and scrap
- Remove (“pick”) laser‑cut parts and stack them on pallets or in containers
- Package parts using banding or shrink wrap
- Safely operate forklifts to move materials and finished parts
- Use basic hand and power tools as needed
- Forklift operating experience
- Crane operator certification preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing and inventory processes
- Ability to read blueprints and use inspection tools
- Strong math skills
- Good verbal and written communication
- CAD experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude; knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems is a plus
