What you will do as a Machinist:
  • Operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on various material workpieces
  • Perform basic and complex set-ups and make offsets/work coordinates as needed
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and cutting tools using hand tools and tool length offset equipment.
  • Transfer programs and offsets from servers or a USB drive to the computer numerical control modules
  • Review job router/traveler for pertinent job information such as work center designation, job size, machine rates, SPC requirements, etc.
  • Load and unload workpieces manually or with material handling equipment
  • Check the accuracy of work against blueprints/specifications using advanced gaging techniques for product conformity
