What you’ll do as a TIG Welder:
- Perform TIG welding on aluminum materials, utilizing precise heat control and filler metal to create strong and aesthetically appealing welds
- Clean and prepare aluminum surfaces for welding, removing any contaminants or impurities that could affect the quality of the weld
- Examine and verify the integrity of aluminum materials to ensure they meet the required quality standards before welding
- Set up and adjust welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate TIG welding torch, gas flow, and amperage, based on the thickness and type of aluminum being welded
- Inspect finished welds for defects and discontinuities, using visual inspection and non-destructive testing methods as required to ensure the product being manufactured is meeting required specifications
- Safely handle and move aluminum materials and welded components during the welding process
- Monitor the manufacturing process to maintain a steady workflow and promptly address any deviations or inefficiencies
- Accurately record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities to maintain production records and assist in process improvement efforts
What you need to be a TIG Welder:
- High school diploma required; technical secondary education is preferred
- 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Must have experience in TIG welding and MIG welding
- Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and engineering drawings
- Familiarity with different grades and types of aluminum and their corresponding welding requirements
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend plant directives written in English
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
