What a Sheet Metal Worker will do:
  • Perform fabrication and assembly of aircraft floats
  • Form material to match blueprint specifications or sample parts, following instructions
  • Operate equipment and utilize common hand tools to manufacture and assemble parts
  • Inspect all parts for cleanliness and defects
  • Record time in ERP software and sign off work order for each process of assembly
  • Select appropriate raw materials and prefabricated parts to perform moderately complex fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts and assemblies
  • Interpret specifications, drawings, and/or sample parts to determine machine adjustments and material processing requirements
  • Identify and perform processes needed for fabrication and assembly
  • Inspect all parts and assemblies for cleanliness and conformity
  • Maintain traceability of material and parts issued to jobs, returning unused material through proper procedures
  • Follow engineering drawings and specifications to install, connect, or bond aircraft parts using adhesives, rivets, or threaded fasteners
  • Prepare and use jigs or fixtures to aid in locating, bonding, or drilling aircraft parts
What you need to be a Sheet Metal Worker:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of related experience in assembly and fabrication strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in working with hand tools and common metal shop tasks
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to use hand tools, including files, hammers, snips, and power tools such as sanders, drills, riveters, and grinders
  • Ability to understand, speak, and effectively communicate in the English language, including oral and written instructions
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic using various units of measure such as decimals and fractions #Metrojobs
