Job Description

Doherty Staffing Solutions is currently partnering with a leading supplier in the bed-making industry located in Grand Forks, ND. We work one-on-one with great candidates to help connect them with local employment opportunities. We are seeking candidates for Sewing Machine Operators on the 1st shift. Hours for this position are from 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Compensation for these temp opportunities is $17.50 per hour. Interested? Get more details below! What you will do as a Sewing Machine Operator:
- Review work orders to determine quilting requirements
- Set up automatic cutting knives if necessary
- Load quilt backing, foam, and ticking onto the quilting machine
- Mark the quilting chart and fire-resistant (FR) tag with the corresponding color and number to match the quilted panel with the appropriate FR tag
- Feed materials through the rollers
- Program the pattern and yardage on the quilter's control panel
- Start the machine and ensure materials are fed correctly
- Inspect for skips and splices, marking any defects
- Check the threading of the machine
- Ensure material is pre-cut by the quilter for subsequent flanging
- Stack completed panels for flanging
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Ability to twist, reach, pull, kneel, stoop, balance, walk, and handle materials with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to read and interpret details and documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operations and maintenance instructions, and labeling
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
