What you will do as a Quality Assurance Technician:
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards
- Select products for tests at specified stages in production process
- Test products for variety of qualities such as lengths, diameters, thicknesses, end preparations, finishes, hole alignments, grove dimensions, tap locations and sizes, or any other material or workmanship which may be defective or unacceptable
- Utilize hand measuring equipment as well as computer-aided equipment: micrometers, height gauges, check pins, and gauges
- Compare dimensions on final shop drawings or work order for compliance of length, diameter, wall thickness, end preparations, collars, hole alignment, coupling size and location, and weld reliability
- Maintain files of inspection, rejection, and defective product
- Investigate causes of defective parts and implements corrective action
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
- Prepare graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis
- Associate's degree; or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 6+ months of related experience and/or training
- Knowledge of manufacturing, spreadsheet, and word processing software
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
