Metrology Engineer - Direct Hire
Job Description
What you’ll do as the Metrology Engineer:
- Supervise a two-shift team that supports the daily priorities of the metrology department, which include inspection for recurring production parts and new product development (R&D)
- Train Quality Inspectors and Technicians in proper inspection and measurement techniques and the use of metrology equipment
- Be the subject matter expert on GD&T and be responsible for training and deployment
- Provide technical support to the Inspection and Quality teams for complex measurement challenges or nonconforming product evaluations
- Develop and validate dimensional measurement programs using CMM, vision systems, and other metrology tools to support production and inspection activities
- Create inspection documentation and acceptance criteria based on customer requirements, engineering drawings, and regulatory standards
- Design and implement measurement methods and fixtures that improve efficiency and accuracy in inspection processes
- Design and execute measurement system analysis and Gage R&R studies to support internal and external validation requirements
What you need to be a Metrology Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metrology, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- 5+ years of metrology experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably in medical device or aerospace
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, measurement principles, and best practices for dimensional inspection
- Experience creating inspection documentation and acceptance criteria per customer specifications and quality standards
- Proficiency with CMM programming (e.g., Mitutoyo/M-Cosmos) and vision inspection systems (e.g., Micro-Vu)
- Experience conducting Gage R&R
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA, and other regulatory requirements related to measurement and calibration
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working in MRP/ERP and QMS systems
