What you will do as a Refrigeration Technician:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on ammonia refrigeration systems (compressors, pumps, valves, condensers, etc.)
- Monitor and adjust equipment settings to protect product quality
- Handle water treatment systems and remove ice buildup
- Maintain logs, complete reports, and inspect system safety features
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, including PLC systems
- Coordinate with contractors and team members to complete work safely
- Follow OSHA, EPA, PSM/RMP regulations and maintain related documentation
- Respond quickly to urgent breakdowns or system failures
- Support other facility maintenance needs and help train team members
What you need to be a Refrigeration Technician:
- Technical degree preferred or equivalent field experience
- 2+ years of experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems
- Certifications (or ability to earn): RETA CARO/CIRO (Ammonia Operator Certifications), HAZWOPER 8 & 24 Hour Training, Respirator Certification, Valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to work in cold environments (coolers/freezers), lift up to 90 lbs., and stand/walk for long periods with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to read manuals, blueprints, and safety procedures
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, and control systems
