What you’ll do as the Machine Operator:
- Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine the dimensions and tolerances of finished
- workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on the material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
- Set up and operate the machine on a trial run to verify the accuracy of the machine settings or programmed control data
- Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
What you need to be a Machine Operator:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a 2-year machining degree is preferred
- 1+ years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with CMM, GD&T, and SPC
- Ability to verify specifications using various measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and depth micrometers
- Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally with or without reasonable accommodation #OsakisHE
