What you’ll do as the Heat Treat Operator:

What you’ll do as the Heat Treat Operator:
- Follow all safety rules and regulations and demonstrate commitment to the safety program
- Set automatic controls, observe gauges, and operate gas or electric furnaces used to harden temper, anneal, and heat treat metal parts
- Load parts into containers in accordance with load diagrams, close the furnace door, and insert parts into the furnace when specified temperature is reached
- Adjust machine settings with assistance when necessary
- Remove parts from the furnace after a specified time and air dry or cool them in water, oil, brine, or other baths
- Disassemble loads as needed
- Read production schedule to determine processing sequence and furnace temperature requirements for objects to be heat treated
- Read work order to determine processing specifications
- Light gas burners and adjust flow of gas and coolant water
- Move material and supplies with a forklift as needed
- Accurately complete required documentation where applicable
- Operate packaging washer equipment where applicable
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 months of heat treat experience preferred
- Ability to follow work instructions
- Regular attendance
- Able to safely operate a forklift as needed
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 32 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 72 lbs.
