Forming Operator
Job Description
What a Forming Operator will do:
- Read and understand manufacturing job orders to determine directions and processing of parts to be taken
- Order material from the warehouse
- Work safely and follow safety policies and procedures, including Lockout Tagout, as required
- Assist in the general daily maintenance of equipment
- Accurately count parts and clocking of time, parts, scrap, etc., in manufacturing software
- Perform value-added checks and quality checks prior to beginning work and throughout the process to ensure accurate start and completion of the job order
- Complete labor reporting accurately through manufacturing software
- Set up machines and equipment as needed according to the job order requirements or set up sheet information
- Make boxes, sort, stack, and count parts
- Train new operators on the equipment
What you need to be a Forming Operator:
- High school diploma or GED
- 6+ months of related experience and/or training
- Manufacturing experience is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
