Food Quality Inspector - Direct Hire
Job Description
- Design and implement comprehensive food safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Establish and maintain rigorous quality control measures throughout the production process, from planting to distribution.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits and inspections to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and customer requirements.
- Provide training and education to employees on food safety practices, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality and safety of raw materials and ingredients used in products.
- Continuously evaluate and improve food safety and quality assurance processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement crisis management plans to address food safety incidents or quality issues promptly and effectively.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of food safety and quality assurance activities, including incident reports, corrective actions, and compliance documentation.
- Work closely with other departments, including production, operations, and sales, to integrate food safety and quality assurance into all aspects of the business.
What you'll bring to the Food Quality Inspector role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in food safety and quality assurance management, preferably in the fresh produce industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards, such as HACCP, FSMA, GFSI, and SQF.
- Experience in developing and implementing food safety programs and quality control systems.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively train and motivate teams.
- Proven track record of managing audits and inspections and addressing compliance issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Certification in food safety (e.g., PCQI, HACCP, SQF Practitioner) is preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience working with agricultural suppliers and understanding of agricultural practices is a plus.
