Job Description

Doherty Career Solutions is currently seeking a Field Service Engineer III to provide remote and on-site technical assistance for a mechanical system installation and other various products and equipment across the United States. The ideal candidate will manage, install, troubleshoot, and provide routine maintenance to ensure proper function and maximize uptime. This is a direct hire position with full benefits and additional perks. This position is based in Minneapolis, MN but travels 50%. This is no ordinary travel; this travel goes to large cities, and you stay in 5-star resorts when traveling. Pay scale is $40-50 an hour with bonuses. Key Responsibilities:
  • Read specifications, such as bills of materials, general arrangement, structural, electrical, installation, assembly, and part drawings to determine and plan construction activities.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment.
  • Make required adjustments to the PLC and other electromechanical components to assure proper system operation.
  • Apply knowledge of rigging to assure safety of workers and eliminate risk of product damage.
  •  Performs start-up testing and customer training on features and the general maintenance of products and equipment.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems internally and encountered in the field.
  • Coordinate and Perform Required Warranty Repairs.
  • Coordinate and provide remote and on-site inspection, maintenance, and repair services for out-of-warranty customers.
  • Work with management to refine existing Annual Inspection and Maintenance Agreement program and sell the program to existing customers.
  • Work with client and client’s staff to set up and maintain active internet connection to the control system for remote monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Remotely Monitor systems covered by Annual Inspection & Maintenance Contracts for proper operations.
  • Respond promptly to customer emergencies. (Within 4 hours)
  • Provide detailed documentation of service work performed for billing purposes.
  • Maintain a database of system faults experienced by customers including root cause and steps taken to rectify.
  • Work under the direction of the Assistant Operations Manager or other personnel to develop a detailed understanding of the fabrication.
  • Provide support for the fabrication process as time allows.
  • Provide backup for the fabrication process.
  • Assist with Product Development o Identify opportunities for improvement with the design, documentation, fabrication, and installation of product.
  • Aid in documentation of processes to assure consistency of tasks.
 Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in managing installation projects of similar scope and complexity.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience as a Field Service Engineer.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a logical and cost-efficient manner.
  • Familiarity with structural connections between ferrous and non-ferrous metals, concrete and other materials.
  • Familiarity working with electromechanical components including Profibus networks, Variable Frequency Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers, Encoders, and related cabling, gear motors, belt drives.
  • Ability to travel over 50% of the time and for durations of up to two weeks at a time, including internationally.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Project, and Excel.
  • Meticulous and thorough in completing work.
  • Dependable, self-directed, and outcome oriented with proven ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Communicates effectively with management, employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Applies sound judgment and problem-solving skills to complex projects and business challenges.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accuracy, and professionalism in producing quality work.
  • OSHA 30 Safety training.
  • Certified Rigger level II and/or Certified Signalperson.
