What a Cell Operator will do:

What a Cell Operator will do:
- Tend to one or more machine tools, special-purpose machines, or industrial robots to machine metalwork pieces to specifications on a production basis
- Read blueprint or job order for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions, such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, and depth of cut, and determine the sequence of operations
- Select, position, and secure the tool in the tool holder (chuck, collet, or tool post)
- Identify (including nonconforming dimensions) and separate all nonconforming parts
- Perform accurate inspections required by the print/job sheet using measuring instruments such as, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges to measure workpieces for conformation to specification
- Perform secondary operations and inspections, including deburring and cleaning parts produced, as cycle time permits
- Count finished parts and pack them neatly into a clean container
- Enter the required data into the computer
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ months of relative experience and/or training
- Ability to measure components and assemblies to verify conformance to the print (tape measure, scale, caliper)
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including a basic understanding of various types of tools used in the machining process
- Knowledge of gases and power sources used in the welding process
- Ability to read and interpret load-out list, shipment schedule, and all other related work documents
