What a CNC Setup Operator will do:

What a CNC Setup Operator will do:
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements
- Set up and align workpieces using appropriate fixtures, tooling, and clamping methods
- Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, ensuring proper tool life and performance
- Program and operate CNC vertical milling machines, making necessary adjustments to machine parameters (e.g., speed, feed, offsets)
- Monitor machine operation during production, identifying and addressing potential issues or problems
- Perform manual edits on the machine when automatic programming is faulty or if the machine malfunctions
- Inspect machined parts for accuracy and quality, using appropriate measuring tools and techniques
- Identify and address any deviations from specifications, making necessary adjustments or rework
- Maintain accurate records of production runs, including machine settings, tool changes, and quality checks
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures in the machine shop environment
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Proven experience as a CNC machinist, vertical milling machines a plus
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with CNC programming and machine operation
- Ability to use measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
