What you’ll do as the CNC Machine Operator:

What you’ll do as the CNC Machine Operator:
- Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of parts to determine operating requirements
- Mount workpiece between a center in chuck or in collet
- Depress buttons and toggles, and start the machining operation
- Observe displays on the control panel and compare with data on the process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments
- Perform spot checks on succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications per instruction on InProcess Inspection Report; complete all in-process inspection requirements
- Operate additional machines during computer-controlled machining cycles when necessary and feasible
- Machine metallic and nonmetallic materials
- Mark and/or tag nonconforming material as needed and place them in nonconforming hold designated areas
- Watch and check coolant fluid levels during machine operation
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 1+ months of related experience and/or on-the-job training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
