What a CAD Technician will do:

What a CAD Technician will do:
- Receive drawings, notes, sketches, and/or quotations from the sales department for orders and check for errors
- Assemble customized designs using proprietary walk-in design software and an existing library of available product components and configurations
- Make adjustments in heights, widths, and depths, door and hinge placements, etc., within established parameters using AutoCAD software and manual mark-ups of prints
- Use proprietary design software to create the bill of materials for each section as needed and to prepare prints and cutting bills for fabrication, welding, and/or assembly of wood and metal parts
- Import the bill of materials from the proprietary design software into the Vantage ERP system and make BOM adjustments as needed within the system to ensure the production jobs are correct
- Prepare prints for foaming operations to properly locate specified items
- Prepare packing lists for the shipping department to ensure finished product is shipped complete and on time
- Verify that manufacturing routing data is correct, then enter the job into the scheduling system and forward hard copies to production control
- Occasionally assist with troubleshooting problems on the production floor when others are not present
- Associate's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or equivalent related experience
- 3 years of design software (AutoCad/SolidWorks) experience in a manufacturing environment or working experience in a custom walk-in manufacturing facility
- Ability to learn proprietary design software program and ERP system
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to be adaptable to design changes and to interpret Sales Department requests
