What you’ll do as a Brake Press Operator:
  • Prepare and set up the press brake machine by loading the appropriate tooling, dies, and materials
  • Position and align sheet metal or other materials on the press brake bed, ensuring proper placement for precise bending
  • Operate the press brake machine to bend or form materials as per engineering drawings and specifications
  • Regularly inspect bent components to verify dimensional accuracy and quality, using measuring instruments such as calipers and gauges.
  • Perform routine maintenance on press brake tooling, ensuring they are in good condition and replacing them when necessary.
  • Identify and resolve minor issues or deviations that may occur during the bending process, such as material inconsistencies or machine malfunctions
  • Accurately record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities to maintain production records and assist in process improvement efforts
  • Coordinate with other team members, including supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel, to ensure smooth production flow and meet production targets
What you need to be a Brake Press Operator:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in machine operation
  • 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment or general knowledge of metalworking, bending and tooling
  • Strong understanding of how manufacturing equipment works together in a line
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend plant directives written in English
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
