Job Description
Seeking a new opportunity in the Plano area? Don’t miss this role! Doherty is partnering with a leading plastic molding and manufacturing company located near Plano, IL. We are seeking candidate for an Automation Engineer on the 1st shift. Responsible for new product development to update, create, and modernize fixtures and robotics. Compensation ranges between $80,000-$100,000 per year, depending on skills and experience. Interested? Read below for more information!
What you’ll do as the Automation Engineer:
What you’ll do as the Automation Engineer:
- Troubleshoot, install, and upgrade, all electrical, mechanical, and controls on all automation equipment
- Design and manufacture enhancements on all equipment to further efficient operation of equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot all types of robots, PLCs, motion controls (servo and stepper), variable speed drives, and vision applications with various communication protocols
- Work with basic electrical components such as motors, breakers, switch gears, transformers, relays, transistor, and diodes
- Interpret Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic schematics and document changes
- Perform evaluations to enhance machine efficiency rates and control parameters with engineering
- Train and mentor junior technicians
- Provide detailed documentation upon project completion for traceability, serviceability, warranty support, etc.
- 5+ years of direct experience in a manufacturing environment conducting support and installation
- Completion of an apprenticeship or combination of work experience and technical training
- Demonstrated mechanical capability
- Basic 3-axis robotic functions and, motors, valves, cylinders, bearings, etc. required
- Proven understanding of solenoid valves, pneumatic controls, and ability to read schematics
